Walking tour pics & hier soir / ce matin!

Hey Dad, as you can see, I am actually taking pictures... you should be proud! haha For those of you who don't know about my little picture taking complex, it began in early childhood when pretty much my whole life was being videotaped / photographed. Now, I love to have pictures, but the actual process of taking them doesn't work out too well for me. I think I came home from my last travels in Europe with a grand total of maybe 40 photos, if even that! Soooo bottom line, I'm trying to be better with that.
I think I mentioned already that I was to go on a walking tour of Aix; well that was yesterday, and beforehand, I decided that since I would be traveling around in a large group of Americans with a tour guide (our resident director Pam) and all, I would go all out on being touristy and give my attempts to blend a few hours rest. We visited a cathedral in Aix that mixed several styles of architecture - a melange of Gothic and Romanesque amongst one or 2 others. We learned that Marseille was the first city in France, formed by the Greeks, and that Aix was the first Roman city. In several places, like by the cathedral, the old roman road is still present. We visited the famous street in Aix 'Cours Mirabeau' named after a very interesting guy. He was rather unpleasing to the eye, but loved this girl who had no interest in him. He thought he would be clever, and parked his carriage outside her place overnight to get the people talking. To put an end to rumors, her father forced her into marriage. After going on a big spending spree and drowning himself in debt, he was arrested and his wife filed for divorce. Being an eloquent speaker, once in front of a council, all his wrongdoings were forgiven.
Last night, I went out with some friends - Maelle and Marianne - and had a great time. It was fun to see them again, and they caught me up to date on what's been going down since my little 6 month depart back to the US. We went to 2 bars that I had never been to, but they were prime! I arrived back at the hotel at 5am, and just woke up an hour or so ago, butttt it was a very productive 'soiree' I must say. Somehow, although I paid 2 entrance fees and for a beer or 2, I ended up with more money than before I left! haha Don't ask me how this happened as I am still pondering that one myself. Wrong change maybe? That's the conclusion I've arrived at... we'll go with that one. Today, placement test results will be posted, so I'll see what level I will be taking starting Monday.
Ok, so what's happening in the next few days? Well, I've got a little trip down to Marseille, we'll have another little walking tour there, and then on Sunday I have a day trip to visit the Luberon region of France. We'll visit Roussillon (the beautiful red town that I have visited before), Ile sur la Sorgue, and another place with a name I can't remember for the life of me. I'm looking forward to that, it should be nice.
Voilà, c'est tout! J'espère que tout va bien aux états-unis!
